WWAMI Adjunct Faculty

The WWAMI School of Medical Education is currently hiring adjunct faculty positions.

WWAMI is a cooperative arrangement between UAA, the University of Washington School of Medicine (UWSOM), and other four states in the WWAMI consortium. As an adjunct faculty member you will serve as a Foundations guide and work closely with UWSOM and UAA faculty at the WWAMI site in Anchorage. You will adapt and deploy, and in some circumstances develop, the UWSOM Foundations Phase curriculum.

This will involve working closely with Block leaders. You may teach in one or more of the blocks in the 18-month Foundations Phase Curriculum, prepare for classes, facilitate student learning, review assignments, and follow up with students. Additional responsibilities may include student remediation, submitting evaluations, participating in faculty meetings and committee work, interprofessional education, and service-learning activities.

The physician must meet the requirements for appointment to the faculty at the University of Alaska Anchorage.

• Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree and board certification in an American Board of Medical Specialties recognized medical specialty.
• Minimum of two years of clinical practice experience in a relevant field.
• Minimum of five years of clinical practice and teaching is preferred, with some experience occurring in the Anchorage medical community.
• Past experience teaching with medical students preferred.
• Prior experience and involvement with the WWAMI program preferred.
• Education, training and experience in a primary care field of medicine are preferred.

Adjunct positions are hired on a semester‑by‑semester appointment. Successful acceptance into the adjunct pool does not constitute an offer of appointment, nor does having worked one semester guarantee that a position will be available the following semester. Hiring decisions are made on a semester‑by‑semester basis according to the needs of the semester schedule. This is a pooled position, and applications are reviewed as needed.

This is an at‑will, union‑represented adjunct position, and may be canceled based upon the needs of the university.
