Sterling Airways is seeking a hands‑on, experienced Maintenance Trainer to join our Maintenance & Engineering team. This role is critical to ensure our maintenance personnel are trained to the highest standards of safety, compliance, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate brings deep industry experience, a strong technical foundation, and a passion for sharing practical knowledge. This is not a theoretical role – our trainer must teach from real‑world experience, using interactive, tech‑driven training tools to build skills and ensure regulatory compliance.
Jobduties and Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver technical training programs for aircraft maintenance technicians and support staff, ensuring alignment with FAA Part 121 requirements.
- Conduct initial, recurrent, and remedial training covering aircraft systems, maintenance procedures, safety, human factors, and regulatory topics.
- Create and maintain course materials, manuals, and assessments using computer‑based training systems and modern instructional tools.
- Provide hands‑on instruction based on real operational scenarios and field experience.
- Evaluate training effectiveness and adjust programs based on feedback, audit findings, and changes in regulations or fleet.
- Support compliance with company training manuals and FAA‑mandated training requirements.
- Stay up to date on technical publications, airworthiness directives, and emerging maintenance best practices.
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Technical Operations to address training gaps, audit outcomes, and continuous improvement efforts.
- FAA A&P certification required.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands‑on aircraft maintenance experience in a commercial aviation setting, preferably under Part 121 operations.
- Prior experience delivering technical training or mentoring maintenance personnel strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of aircraft systems, technical manuals, MEL/CDL/NEF use, and safety protocols.
- Computer literate with proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, web‑based training systems, and maintenance tracking software (e.g., CAMP, TRAX, or similar).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain complex technical content clearly.
- Strong interpersonal skills; approachable, supportive, and committed to helping others succeed.
- Knowledge of FAA training and record‑keeping requirements.
- Experience with Saab 2000 or similar turboprop aircraft preferred but not required.
- FAA Inspection Authorization (IA) or previous Maintenance Control experience a plus.
- Proven ability to operate effectively in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
