Job SummaryThe Teacher Expert Instructional Support for Frontier Charter School assists in providing an educational program that is responsive to student needs while addressing the goals and objectives of both the Anchorage School District and the school. The teacher expert remains abreast of best practices and shares with instructional staff. The position encourages teachers to apply principles of learning and effective teaching methods that enable students to be actively engaged in the learning process.
The teacher expert provides instructional classroom support through recommending, demonstrating, or modeling appropriate materials, technology, and resources to help meet learning needs of all students. The teacher expert reports to and is evaluated by the site principal. Frontier Charter School operates on a district-approved year‑round calendar. Teachers are expected to work their contracted days throughout the calendar year rather than following a traditional August‑to‑May school schedule.
This position requires a valid Alaska educator certificate. The number of workdays is based upon the AEA negotiated pay scale. Information on the pay scale can be found online on our Labor Relations Department website. Positions that are 0.50 FTE to 1.0 FTE are associated with the Alaska Teachers' Retirement System (TRS), positions that are 0.40 to 0.49 FTE are associated with the Alaska Employees' Retirement System (PERS).
Positions that are 0.39 FTE or less are not eligible for state retirement benefits.
The following are required:
- a posted degree in the content area of this position;
- a posted minor in the content area of this position;
- passing Praxis Subject Assessments scores (formerly Praxis II) in the content area of this position;
- an endorsement in the content area of this position.

The successful candidate:
- Displays extensive knowledge of appropriate developmental characteristics of age groups and can easily adjust instruction to accommodate the range of development needs.
- Has the ability to use current technology to enhance instruction.
- Applies knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs.
