Job Description:
NANA Worley is accepting applications for positions ranging from Entry‑level to Principal Electrical Designers, depending on experience and competencies. The Electrical Designer applies engineering principles to design, modify, or develop facilities, testing, machines, equipment, or processes used in processing or manufacturing products in a multi‑discipline engineering and design team.
This is a full‑time, non‑rotational position located at NANA Worley headquarters in Anchorage, AK. The position is eligible for the NANA Worley employee referral program, available only to current employees.
Responsibilities- Interpret and apply codes, procedures, standards, and specifications to accurately and efficiently produce designs that conform to applicable codes and specifications.
- Interpret complex vendor data or drawings for conformance with project requirements and initiate resolution of any problems.
- Accurately develop material takeoffs and estimates.
- Proficiently operate various AutoCAD systems; use computer‑assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform design tasks.
- Demonstrate skills in structuring assigned activities, creativity, teamwork, handling client changing needs, communications, operational efficiencies, decision making, and analyzing and solving problems.
- Inspect equipment for conformance with design specifications; analyze product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine designs that can be produced by existing manufacturing or processing facilities and methods.
- Analyze engineering proposals, process requirements and related technical data pertaining to industrial machinery and equipment design.
- Determine feasibility of designing new plant equipment or modifying existing facilities considering costs, available space, time limitations, company planning and other technical and economic factors.
- Provide information to those in field construction; provide accurate technical advice and training to others.
- Provide technical information concerning manufacturing or processing techniques, materials, properties and process advantages and limitations which affect long‑range plant and product engineering planning.
- Study engineering and technical publications to keep abreast of technical changes and developments in industry.
- Design experience with arctic electrical installations, NEC, motors, motor controls, and third‑party certifications. Preference given to those with experience in high voltage power line design and/or ETAP.
- Check various designs, diagrams, drawings, etc. for compliance with applicable codes and specifications.
- Design electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.
- Design fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment.
- Design applications of controls, instruments, and systems for new commercial, domestic, and industrial use.
- Use computer‑assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Designer – 4–10 years of work experience; oil and gas industry experience preferred.
- Senior Designer – 8–15 years of experience in the oil and gas industry.
- Staff Designer – 15+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry; or associate degree in engineering technology, electrical design, or a related degree from an accredited institution and 10+ years of experience.
- Senior Staff Designer – 17+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry; or associate degree and 15+ years of experience.
- Principal Designer – 20+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry; or 15+ years of experience with a significant lead designer role.
- Applicable Arctic/cold weather experience.
- 3‑D modeling experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
