Position: NANA SHAREHOLDER COLLEGE INTERNSHIP - Kuna Engineering Intern Paid Internship
Job Description

Assists Discipline Engineers, Project Engineers, Project Managers, and/or Engineering Manager with all aspects of the project engineering from proposal to final report by performing various engineering tasks.

_NANA will provide lodging and transportation for applicants outside the Anchorage/Matsu Valley area. For more details, feel free to reach out! Internships will run from June to August with some flexibility based on individual availability._

Responsibilities

+ Support engineers in research and analyzing of data such as client design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.

+ Review project drawings, standards and specifications for completeness and accuracy.

+ Performs engineering calculations to support design and evaluation tasks.

+ Assists engineers with major equipment and material selection and development of construction specifications.

+ Use various engineering and design software to perform engineering tasks.

+ Ensure that all assigned activities and operations comply with applicable codes, regulations and laws.

+ Assist with the preparation of estimates, cost reports, forecasts, schedules, account codes, budgets and change orders.

+ Coordinate quantity estimates by obtaining and analyzing data on unit labor costs and unit material costs.

+ Updates estimates, schedules, reports, drawings and documents based on revisions and client comments.

+ Assists with preparation of project reports.

+ Conducts quality checks of databases, documents and reports, to verify accuracy of data, information, and calculations.

+ Assists in preparing, maintaining and filing of departmental policies and procedures.

+ Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of client, staff and company information.

+ Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit's success also may be assigned.

+ This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

+ Must be a shareholder of NANA Regional Corporation, Inc., or a direct descendant of a shareholder. In accordance with NANA's Shareholder Preference Hiring Policy, priority will be given to NANA shareholders first, followed by shareholder descendants.

+ Must be 18 years or older.

+ Must be currently enrolled in college or a vocational school full-time and have completed one semester of postsecondary education.

+ College sophomore level or higher with degree declared in Engineering, Engineering Management, or Project Management.

+ Intermediate skillset with MS Word processing software and MS Excel spreadsheet software. Some exposure to computer aided drafting and engineering software preferred.

Preferred Requirements

+ Driver's License and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under company vehicle insurance policy is preferred.

_Weather:_ Indoor or outdoor work may be possible; outdoor work may be in inclement weather.

_Noise level:_ The noise level in the work environment is usually that of a standard office atmosphere. Outdoor work may be periodically around heavy equipment.

_Description of environment:_ Indoor work will be in an office building with standard office environment. Outdoor work may be in remote locations with limited access/communications.

Physical requirements:

_ Employee is required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.

_Travel:_ Employee may travel up to 25% to various locations within the U.S. and/or remote locations and may be required to use alternative modes of transportation, including but not limited to snow machines, boats, small airplanes and ATVs.
