Job Overview

Job ResponsibilitiesThis professional senior engineering position manages the Private Development Section in the Development Services Division. Under general executive direction from the Deputy Director for Development Services Division, this position oversees the administration of Subdivision Agreements as required by the Municipal Platting Authority. Work includes direct supervision of professional, para‑professional, and technical staff in the administration of this work. Tasks include preparation of subdivision agreements, review of plans prepared by developer’s professional engineer overseeing the construction of required improvements;
project closeout after completion and final acceptance by the Municipality of Anchorage; overseeing administration of building permit engineering site plan reviews; interacting with developers, engineers, affected public and various municipal, state, and federal agencies during the life of the project and dealing with controversial developments, including resolution of complaints about projects, both from the public and from developers and their representatives.
The position requires some driving to visit development sites. This job requires strong analytical skills as well as solid interpersonal and project management skills. Perform other duties as assigned.
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering, or a closely related field, and eight (8) years of progressively responsible engineering experience, two (2) years of which must have been involved in managing the construction of large engineering capital projects.
Satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire.
Valid State of Alaska Driver's License and satisfactory Driving Record at time of hire.
Valid State of Alaska Professional Engineer License at time of hire.

If selected for hire, the appointment in this position will be conditional based upon a satisfactory Municipal Employment Office conducted Background Check. A Background Check encompasses criminal history, verifying education, and verifying dates of employment.
If selected for hire, appointment in this position will be conditional based upon the submission of a current copy of the applicant’s Alaska Driver’s License, and a current (dated within 30 days from date requested) copy of their Department of Motor Vehicle driving record, including a driving record from previous states, if the Alaska Driver’s License was first issued within one year prior to application, documenting an acceptable driving history.
