HOURS OF WORK: Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
LOCATION OF WORK: 4700 Elmore Road
Position SummaryThe Lead Plan Reviewer for the Zoning and Land Use Plan Review Unit establishes priorities and directs daily workflow. Responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of a training program for the unit. Performs review of plans to assure compliance with applicable codes and ordinances for residential, commercial, industrial, and public use developments. Mentors and trains Land Use Reviewer in the application of Title 21.
Requires a total of two years residential review, of which one year includes commercial review for Title 21. Performs other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and seven (7) years of experience in drafting, surveying, inspection, materials testing, plan review, permitting, computerized mapping, computer assisted design (CAD), traffic signal control, code enforcement, and/or a related field, with at least one (1) year at the Engineering Technician III level with the Municipality or equivalent.
- Associate’s degree in Engineering, Geomatics, Construction Management, Computer Assisted Design (CAD), or a discipline specific to the department and five (5) years of experience in the same set of fields, with at least one (1) year at the Engineering Technician III level with the Municipality or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Geomatics, Construction Management, or a discipline specific to the department and three (3) years of experience in the same set of fields, with at least one (1) year at the Engineering Technician III level with the Municipality or equivalent.
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Geomatics, Construction Management, or a discipline specific to the department and at least one (1) year of experience as an Engineering Technician III level with the Municipality or equivalent.
Preference will be given to Anchorage Municipal Employees Association (AMEA) employees. AMEA employees who are successful in the screening process will be forwarded to the department for consideration prior to any non‑AMEA applicants.
Background & Licensing Requirements- Background check including criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire.
- Valid State of Alaska driver’s license and full driving record at time of hire.
Veterans or those wishing to be considered for interview preference as permitted must attach DD Form 214, DD Form 256, NGB Form 22, or a letter from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs recognizing them as a veteran. Documentation must show an honorable or general discharge. Minimum qualifications must be met for preference consideration.
Individuals currently serving as a member in good standing in the National Guard or organized military reserves must attach proof of current service in the required format. Minimum qualifications must be met.
