Transportation Planner – R-004-001 – Anchorage – NPS – $60.00/hr – 12 hours/week – Minimum Age: 55.
QualificationsMinimum 30 years of experience in Project and Program Management, Civil Engineering, and/or Regional and Community Planning OR BA/BS Degree in Civil Engineering/Planning OR previously completed training in those areas.
- Department of the Interior/National Park Service experience;
Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) experience. - Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams, and MS Outlook.
Enrollee will assist on a wide range of Federal Lands Transportation Program projects, including meetings, scoping, and coordination with regional and park staff. The enrollee will serve as a Project Manager and Specialist for infrastructure and transportation projects within the Alaska Region under the direction of the Alaska Region Federal Lands Transportation Program (FLTP) manager. Responsibilities include
- Project management: primary point of contact with parks, support offices, and region staff; assist division chiefs in determining project scope, schedule, budget, contracting prep, project specialist assignments, A/E selection, and quality.
- Communication: review and provide comments on road and bridge projects (Category I), alternative transportation (Category III), road studies, reports, plans, and specifications for conformance to FLTP policies and standards.
- Evaluation/analysis: participate in pre‑project planning scoping trips, review preliminary PPP reports, participate in plan‑in‑hand reviews and other design development meetings.
- Miscellaneous: assist parks and regions in preparation of PMIS entries, estimates, scopes of service, scheduling, and preconstruction conferences as a technical/professional representative.
- Overnight travel: up to 4–5 trips to the field, approximately one week each, including travel at both ends.
- Air travel anticipated depending on enrollee location.
