Senior Geotechnical Engineer – Bellevue, WA

Lead geotechnical tasks and delivery on a wide variety of medium‑ to large‑scale civil infrastructure projects, primarily in the water and transportation markets, including conventional design‑bid‑build and design‑build projects.

Mentor less experienced staff, develop and implement geotechnical data collection programs, conduct geotechnical analyses, prepare reports, develop contract documents, and provide support during construction.

Collaborate as part of a large interdisciplinary design team, interact with clients, support business development efforts, and assist geotechnical leadership in advancing technical capabilities regionally and globally.

Technical Skills
  • Exploration methods, geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring, and laboratory testing for soil and rock
  • Cold‑regions engineering
  • Design, construction, and inspection of dam and levee projects
  • Design of typical geotechnical structures: shallow and deep foundations, earth‑retaining structures, embankment and cut slopes, and ground improvement
  • Earthquake hazard evaluations: liquefaction assessments, site‑specific ground‑response analyses, and design spectra development
  • Preparation of technical reports
  • Familiarity with computer programs for geotechnical analyses such as SETTLE3D, LPILE, SLIDE or SLOPE, MATHCAD, FB‑Multipier, PLAXIS, and FLAC
  • Preparation of design drawings and specifications
Qualifications
  • B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering
  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering
  • 15 years of geotechnical consulting experience with a focus on heavy infrastructure projects
  • PE license
  • 10 or more years of geotechnical design experience in the dams market preferred
