Engineering Assistant 1/2/3 Flex Position
Base Salary:
Engineering Assistant 1: $32.78 hourly;
Engineering Assistant 2: $37.78 hourly;
Engineering Assistant 3: $43.19 hourly.
Assist Right-of-Way (ROW) Engineering staff with determinations of existing highway rights of way based on public land orders, departmental orders, executive orders, and historical records. Oversee the design, engineering and development of right-of-way plans, parcel maps, and legal descriptions. Coordinate and manage multiple tasks with competing schedules involving design, construction, maintenance, public information, ROW acquisition and Consultant ROW mapping contracts.

The Working Environment You Can ExpectThe position is located at the Central Region Headquarters, 4111 Aviation Ave. Office hours are flexible, allowing for short work weeks. The office is adjacent to bike and walking trails around Lake Hood.
Who We Are Looking For- Surveying: Knowledge of measuring land boundaries, distances, elevations, areas, and angles.
- Legal, Government, and Jurisprudence: Knowledge of laws, regulations, and government processes.
- Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving: Logical, systematic approach to problems.
- Research: Systematic inquiry skills, study design, data analysis and interpretation.
- Teamwork: Ability to facilitate cooperation, trust, and group identity.
- A valid Driver's License is required.

QualificationsEngineering Assistant 1: Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture or land surveying from a postsecondary institution accredited by ABET, or equivalent degree plus an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or Land Surveyor-In-Training (LSIT) certificate, or proof of passing the FE or FS exam. Applicants who obtain a bachelor's degree within nine months may receive a conditional offer.
Engineering Assistant 2: Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture or land surveying from an ABET‑accredited institution, plus one year of entry‑level experience as an Engineering Assistant 1, or equivalent degree plus EIT/LSIT certification and experience. Alternatively, five years of progressively responsible sub‑professional engineering experience may substitute. Graduate study may be substituted for required experience.
Engineering Assistant 3: Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture or land surveying from an ABET‑accredited institution, plus two years of experience with at least one year at the working or intermediate trainee level. Applicants with an ABET‑non‑accredited degree may qualify with an EIT certificate and the required experience. Substitutions include four years of hybrid education and experience, or graduate study.
