Environmental Engineer

Overview

At Jacobs, we’re challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world's most critical problems. This role focuses on environmental site characterization and remediation projects for government and private‑sector clients, based in Anchorage, Alaska.

As an Environmental Engineer / Geologist / Scientist, you will work with a supportive team of professionals to plan and execute field activities, manage subcontracts, evaluate data, and prepare technical reports. You will also ensure high standards of Health, Safety and Environmental Compliance. Estimated 50% of your time will be spent on field project work, with the remaining time in office work within a hybrid work environment.

• Plan and execute field activities—including well installation, soil sampling, groundwater sampling, surface water and sediment sampling, and other relevant media.
• Conduct remediation system maintenance and coordinate with project teams.
• Prepare scopes of work for subcontracts and evaluate field and laboratory data sets.
• Document completed activities and results in technical reports.
• Maintain safety standards and ensure Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, geology, natural sciences, or a closely related field.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Professional experience delivering environmental site characterization and remediation projects, including fieldwork methodology and data evaluation.
• Experience working on project sites and overseeing subcontractors.
• Leadership experience guiding teams toward a common goal.
• 40‑hr HAZWOPER certification or the ability to attain it.
• Willingness to perform field work and travel 40‑60% (including local Alaska travel and out‑of‑region travel).
• United States Citizenship.

• Master’s degree in engineering, geology, natural science, or a closely related field.
• Professional registration (e.g., Professional Engineer or Professional Geologist) or intent to obtain and maintain such certification.
• Self‑driven time management and organizational skills.
• Strong attention to detail when conducting field work and evaluating data.
• Experience on projects following the CERCLA or RCRA cleanup process.
• Remediation, Operations & Maintenance project or research experience.

Base salary range for this position is $74,700.00 to $. Pay is determined by work location and other factors.
