Position: PROJECT MANAGEMENT SUPERVISOR (Civil Engineer III) - Range 17 / NON

Position

This is a non-represented position (no union affiliation) and is subject to the provisions of the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage.

Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 17:00

Salary

The actual salary for this position may be eligible for a ten percent (10%) incentive due to a Supervisory Compensation Adjustment. This is to ensure that supervisors are fairly compensated in comparison to those persons they supervise. The Adjustment may be discontinued at any time, if the Mayor determines the adjustment is no longer warranted.

Work Summary

Works under the general direction of the Capital Program Manager. Responsible for supervising, work planning, prioritizing, assigning, reviewing, and technical direction of Project Management section staff. Manages all design through construction phases of AWWU capital improvement projects including construction negotiations and making recommendations on disposition of claims. Strong background in civil design and construction management desired. Ability to function under limited supervision and able to manage multiple projects and tasks.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field and five (5) years of progressively responsible engineering experience.

Substitution: A Master’s degree in Engineering may substitute for the experience on a year for year basis.

Required Credentials
  • Must possess a valid State of Alaska Driver's License with satisfactory driving record at time of hire.
  • Registered as a professional engineer in the State of Alaska at time of hire.

Driver's License and Driving Record

If selected for hire, appointment in this position will be conditional based upon the submission of a current copy of the applicant's Alaska Driver's License, and a current (dated within 30 days from date requested) copy of his/her Department of Motor Vehicle driving record, including a driving record from previous states, if the Alaska Driver's License was first issued within one year prior to application, documenting an acceptable driving history.

Required Certifications & Licenses

All required certifications and/or licenses must remain current for the duration of employment.

Military Service Interview Preference
