The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA), Division of AK Air National Guard (ANG), Contracting Section is recruiting for a Drafting Technician
3. This position is in the General Government (GGU) bargaining unit at a range 15. This position is open to Alaska Residents only. Please check our Definition FAQ to determine if you qualify.
What You Will Be Doing:
As part of our dynamic team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting engineering and infrastructure projects through AutoCAD drafting, technical documentation, project coordination, GIS data management, and records maintenance. Responsibilities include developing and updating engineering plans and maps, preparing specifications and cost estimates, interpreting survey and field data, performing engineering calculations, coordinating federally funded projects, and maintaining accurate technical records and infrastructure databases.

The work environment is professional and mission-focused, balancing technical drafting in an office setting with frequent field visits to construction sites and facility utility systems. You will work both independently and collaboratively with a diverse team of engineers, project managers, and military personnel within the 176th Civil Engineer Squadron.
Who We Are Looking For:
We are interested in candidates who possess some or all of the following position specific competencies:
- Design: Knowledge of conceptualizing, developing, producing, understanding, and using plans, models, blueprints, and maps, including the use of tools and instruments to produce precision technical drawings, working prototypes, components, or systems. This directly supports the primary duty of performing a full range of manual and automated drafting.
- Attention to Detail: Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. This is critical for reviewing plan sets for accuracy and ensuring technical integrity to prevent safety compromises or project delays.
