ResponsibilitiesAs a Research Administrator within the Office of Research, you will provide comprehensive pre‑award and post‑award support for sponsored projects funded by federal, state, local, private, and institutional sponsors. You will review and interpret funding opportunity announcements, sponsor guidelines, and award terms to support proposal development, budget preparation, proposal submission, and award administration. You will apply your knowledge of sponsored research regulations, grant and contract budgeting, cost principles, indirect cost and fringe benefit rates, cost‑sharing requirements, effort reporting, and sponsor‑specific compliance requirements to ensure proposals and awards are administered in accordance with institutional policies and sponsor expectations.
You will monitor and manage post‑award financial activities, including budget forecasting, expenditure review, account reconciliation, labor projections, and financial reporting to ensure compliance and effective stewardship of sponsored funds. Working closely with principal investigators, departmental staff, and university offices, you will analyze financial and administrative information, identify and resolve issues, prepare reports, and provide guidance on financial, administrative, and compliance matters through project completion.
QualificationsTo thrive in this role, candidates should possess strong experience in research administration, sponsored programs, grants management, and financial oversight. Success requires knowledge of proposal development, award administration, budgeting, financial analysis, compliance requirements, sponsor regulations, and post‑award management.
Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in accounting, statistics, or related field and 2 years professional fiscal experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Position DetailsThis position is located in Anchorage, Alaska, and is a term‑funded, full‑time, non‑exempt staff position. The salary will be based on UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 78, and is commensurate with education and experience. The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary and a full employee benefits package, including retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental, and vision care coverage.
