Personal Banker I – Metro Branch
First National Bank Alaska is hiring a Personal Banker I. Salary starts at $23.25 per hour; compensation will be commensurate with experience.
Schedule:
Monday‑Friday 8 am‑5 pm; occasional Saturdays.
Responsible for welcoming customers and delivering consistent, exceptional customer service. Builds and deepens relationships to uncover banking needs and recommends the best products, services and solutions. May direct, coach and mentor branch employees; works closely with the Branch Manager or Operations Supervisor to ensure critical timelines are met and daily branch functions are completed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provides consistent, exceptional service that enhances customer interactions.
- Engages with customers to build relationships by uncovering needs and uses expert knowledge to cross‑sell multiple products and solutions.
- Opens and updates consumer and business accounts, including higher‑complexity ownerships.
- Demonstrates advanced knowledge of consumer and business digital platforms and mobile applications.
- May direct, coach and mentor other branch employees and ensures operational controls and timelines are met.
- Assists customers with personal loan and credit card applications, business credit cards, debit card reissues, account disputes and stop payments.
- Performs teller corrections, approves customer transactions, and verifies and sends wires within defined limits.
- May act as Vault Teller, Safe Deposit Box Attendant, or perform Universal Teller II duties as assigned.
- Abides by First National Bank Alaska policies, all federal and state regulations, and completes required compliance training.
- Performs other work‑related duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Stay up to date on relevant laws and regulations and complete all compliance training on time.
- Know and comply with bank policies, procedures, laws and regulations applicable to the job.
- Maintain customer confidence and protect the bank’s operations by safeguarding confidential information.
Education and/or
Experience:
Minimum:
Two years of customer service experience with at least one year of relationship development in the financial industry; or three years of relational sales experience.
Preferred: Knowledge of First National Bank Alaska products and services.
Skills and Abilities: Proficient computer operation, 35 wpm typing, 10‑key calculator, word processing and spreadsheet experience. Strong communication, interpersonal skills, discretion and judgment in dealing with customers and management. High integrity and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
Language
Skills:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret business publications and regulatory documents; write reports and correspondence; present information effectively to managers, customers and the public.
Mathematical
Skills:
Ability to calculate discounts, interest, commissions and percentages; apply fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical solutions.
Reasoning
Skills:
Solve practical problems, define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw conclusions, interpret instructions.
Required to talk, hear, stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, lift up to 25 lb frequently and up to 50 lb occasionally. Vision requirements include close, distance, color and peripheral vision and depth perception.
