Job Description
The following are the duties of this position at the full working level. If this vacancy includes more than one grade and you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform these duties and receive training to help you grow in this position.
1. Defines study parameters including objectives, scope, methodology, and data requirements, independently determining the most appropriate analytical approach in alignment with Data and Analytics research and compliance priorities.
2. Performs quantitative and qualitative analyses, including cross-sectional and longitudinal analysis, to support program evaluation, workload selection models, and compliance risk identification such as developing and revising predictive models to identify noncompliance risk, audit selection criteria, revenue estimation, and tax gap analysis.
3. Performs a wide variety of economic studies to evaluate policies affecting tax administration and taxpayer compliance and to define feasible alternatives. This involves analyzing long-range effectiveness associated with the issues and resulting recommendations and their relationship to the mission and strategic goals of the IRS.
4. Collaborates with Data and Analytics economists, statisticians, data scientists, and analysts to support project execution.
5. Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to support Data and Analytics programs and provides technical guidance and consultation.
