Position Overview
Adult Probation Officer 1/2B – Central Classification and Community Placement Unit, Anchorage, Alaska.
What You Will Be Doing- Supervise offenders on furlough status at Community Residential Centers (CRCs) and treatment centers, and assist those serving their term of imprisonment on electronic monitoring or confined at the CRCs.
- Provide case management to assist offenders in their reentry efforts while balancing public safety.
- Collaborate with treatment providers, case managers, and reentry services to ensure the successful transition of offenders back to the community.
- Conduct office visits, risk/needs assessments, classifications, furlough conversions, searches and shakedowns, report writing, service referrals, victim notification, and release planning.

The Working Environment You Can ExpectThe unit offices are located at the Anchorage Correctional Complex, with additional space in local CRCs allowing for independent work and teamwork.
The fast‑paced unit requires regular cross‑training and assistance among staff.

Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in any field or equivalent experience. Qualified applicants must be: 21 years of age, a U.S. citizen or national, and possess a high school diploma or GED. Must hold a valid U.S. driver’s license at the time of appointment. Eligibility to obtain a basic correctional officer certificate within 14 months of hire (if not already certified).

Minimum experience:
Four years of paraprofessional experience in probation, parole, pretrial, criminal justice, juvenile justice, social services, corrections, criminal investigation, public safety, or law enforcement; or an equivalent combination of post‑secondary education and experience valued at one month per 2.67 semester hours.
• Advancement to Adult Probation Officer 2B requires completion of the Adult Probation Officer Academy and Field Training Manual; promotion to Adult Probation Officer 2 occurs after completing all training and certification requirements.
• Eligibility:
No felony or domestic‑violence misdemeanor convictions; no conviction for dishonesty or moral turpitude in the past ten years; no undisclosed criminal history; no recent controlled‑substance violations; no convictions that would preclude firearm possession or required security clearance.
