Base Salary Information
  • Environmental Impact Analyst 1 – $28.50 per hour (OT eligible)
  • Environmental Impact Analyst 2 – $32.78 per hour (OT eligible)
  • Environmental Impact Analyst 3 – $2,833.50 biweekly (OT ineligible)
Job Description

The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Central Region is seeking an Environmental Impact Analyst to support the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process and Section 106 historic property identification and evaluation activities for projects from conception through construction.

Responsibilities
  • Environmental Impact Analyst 1:
    • Prepare categorical exclusions.
    • Assist with environmental assessments and the NEPA Assignment Program.
    • Secure permits and conduct research and fieldwork.
    • Engage with agencies and analyze impacts for geotechnical investigations.
  • Environmental Impact Analyst 2:
    • Prepare environmental documents and secure permits for moderately complex projects.
    • Draft categorical exclusions and environmental assessments.
    • Contribute to environmental impact statements.
    • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and the Engineering Manager.
    • Manage project timelines and conduct research for project development.
    • Ensure compliance during construction activities.
  • Environmental Impact Analyst 3:
    • Oversee environmental documentation and permits for complex projects.
    • Coordinate studies and conduct quality control reviews.
    • Review environmental impact statements and develop project schedules.
    • Lead public meetings and manage permit acquisition.
    • Monitor compliance during construction and act in the absence of the Regional Environmental Manager.
    • Contribute to policy reviews.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Environmental Impact Analyst 1:
    • Environmental Engineering knowledge: concepts, principles, theories, and methods to protect and improve the environment and its resources.
    • Oral Communication: effective oral presentations and listening skills.
    • Reading: understand and interpret written material including technical material.
    • Reasoning: identify rules and principles and analyze information.
    • Writing: correct English grammar, punctuation, and spelling; concise and organized communication.
  • Environmental Impact Analyst 2:
    • Environmental Engineering knowledge.
    • Public Planning knowledge: community planning, outdoor recreation planning, and natural resource management.
    • Compliance knowledge: procedures for assessing, evaluating, and monitoring compliance.
    • Decision Making: sound, well‑informed decisions and action in uncertain situations.
    • Writing skills as above.
  • Environmental Impact Analyst 3:
    • Environmental Engineering knowledge.
    • Public Planning knowledge.
    • Compliance knowledge.
    • Influencing/Negotiating: persuade others and negotiate solutions.
    • Technical Competence: apply knowledge to perform job and advise others.
