Senior Buyer – Municipality of Anchorage
Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee. This is a non-represented position (no union affiliation) and is subject to the provisions of the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage.

Under general supervision of management, the Senior Buyer is responsible for the Municipality’s Request for Proposal (RFP) Program, ensuring uniformity of service in a matter consistent with legal and regulatory requirements.
Duties include:
- Receiving and reviewing documentation for preparation of RFPs from various municipal departments.
- Scheduling and coordinating the advertisement of RFPs.
- Serving as point of contact for requests for clarification or other inquiries regarding RFPs.
- Processing required communications in the RFP process.
- Performing other duties as assigned, including support of the Department’s mission and operation as required by the Purchasing Director.
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent AND eight (8) years of experience in the field related to the position.
- Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources, Purchasing, Computer Information Systems, Finance or similar discipline AND six (6) years of experience in the field related to the position.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources, Purchasing, Computer Information Systems, Finance or similar discipline AND four (4) years of experience in the field related to the position.
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources, Purchasing, Computer Information Systems, Finance or similar discipline AND two (2) years of experience in the field related to the position.
Employment is conditional upon a satisfactory background check, which includes criminal, education, and employment history. Applicants must possess a valid State of Alaska Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record at time of hire.
