WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
The Program Coordinator for the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons (MMIP) Review Commission is responsible for supporting Commission activities to address MMIP issues, managing the professional service contracts for the commission, and conducting needs assessments.
The position ensures compliance with state and federal laws, aligning Commission recommendations with legislative mandates, and fostering collaboration between state, tribal, and community stakeholders. It also supports the development of policies and strategies aimed at improving public safety, enhancing investigative resources, and advocating for the families of missing and murdered Indigenous persons across Alaska.

As the Program Coordinator for the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons (MMIP) Commission, you will play a crucial role in this mission. You will help facilitate interagency collaboration, develop policies and programs, conduct research, and support public awareness and education initiatives specifically aimed at reducing the number of missing and murdered indigenous persons.

THE WORKING CONDITIONS YOU CAN EXPECT:
This position will work in the Department of Public Safety Headquarters building in east Anchorage. The location has numerous walking trails nearby, ample parking, and easy access to public transportation. Travel will be required on occasion to support the duties of the MMIP Commission. This position may be eligible for a hybrid schedule following completion of the probation period.
