The Department of Corrections, Division of Pretrial, Probation, and Parole is recruiting for a Criminal Justice Technician 2 position for the Anchorage Presentence Unit located in Anchorage, Alaska.

What You Will Be Doing:

At the Anchorage Presentence Unit, you will be working directly with the Alaska Court System, the District Attorney’s Office, the Public Defender’s Office, the Alaska Court System, local, state and federal law enforcement agencies along with employees of the Department of Corrections and other seminal agencies out of state in order to gather documents to facilitate the investigation of a person being sentenced on a felony crime on behalf of the Alaska Court System.

As a Criminal Justice Technician, the main focus is conducting the administrative work of this office along with paraprofessional work which assists the Adult Probation Officers in obtaining the documentation necessary to research and write reports for the Alaska Court System.

Some examples of duties are: answering the main phone line, obtaining legal paperwork and police reports from a variety of agencies, sending out victim notifications in preparation for the presentence report, updating documents and phone lists, speaking with victims about victim notification rights, research, drafting and preparing portions of the presentence report, and documenting all efforts in our computer database.

You will be joining a small, independent, yet cohesive team of professionals who have a variety of experiences within and outside of DOC. There is an ability for on-the-job training to become an Adult Probation Officer. This job is partially remote work, and the benefits provided through the State of Alaska include medical, legal fees and paid time off. The standard workweek is Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one hour lunch.

This position is located at the Anchorage Presentence Unit and you will serve the entire Department of Corrections and Anchorage Court System through the work conducted by this unit. It is an independent and quiet position requiring focus and attention to detail.
