This position is represented by the Anchorage Police Department Employees Association (APDEA) and is subject to the provisions of the current contract between the Municipality of anchorage and the APDEA.

4-10 Hour Workdays. Days off will be SSM. Hours TBD. (12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.)

[ Investigative Support Unit (ISU) ]

Anchorage Police Officers/Senior Police Officers perform a wide range of police services and a variety of tasks including; maintain order, enforce codes and ordinances, identification and apprehension of violators within the Municipality of Anchorage (MOA). Respond to complaints and requests for police assistance and intervene in various situations as required. Promote safety and wellbeing through the enforcement of local, state, and federal laws in a manner consistent with the mission and goals of the MOA.

Conduct preliminary investigations; collect and preserve evidence. Ability to coordinate with other agencies, maintain records and daily reports; prepare cases for court testimony and testify in court as required. Perform other duties as assigned.

The Investigative Support Unit (ISU) assists the APD detective division, crime suppression division, and patrol division with locating and apprehending violent criminals. Members of the ISU may conduct high intensity patrol operations, secure search warrant locations, locate suspects and witnesses, track down and arrest subjects with warrants and other duties as assigned in support of high profile APD investigations. Members work as part of team, as well as independently with little or no supervision.

Demonstrate effective working relationships with team unit members, co-workers and supervisors. Complete accurate and legible reports. Members are expected to be highly self-motivated. Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Must be a current sworn employee working within the Anchorage Police Department
• Must be a current member of the APD SWAT Team.
• Must possess a minimum of three (3) year as a Police Officer with the Anchorage Police Department
• Must be able to perform all functions of a Police Officer.

The APD Selection Process will be as follows for this unit. The Selection Process includes evaluating and confirming applicant information and developing a ranked list by the following factors:

• Oral Board (minimum 60% required to pass)
• Discipline Review
• Secondary Discipline Review will occur at time of transfer. (The list will be re-ranked, if necessary, to account for both new discipline and expired discipline.)

An applicant leaving this position due to mandatory transfer requirements is eligible to apply but will be placed last on the eligibility list.

The eligibility list for the Investigative Support Unit (ISU) is good for one (1) year from the date following the conclusion of the selection process, when the Certified Eligibility List is published. Officers selected will remain in place for five (5) years.

ISU is a team-concept unit. Positive attitudes and high standards of performance are expected from unit members.
