Under close supervision, the Certified Medical Assistant assists providers in delivering quality health care to patients and their families. Level I employees perform routine tasks under close supervision and receive extensive instruction.
Responsibilities- Create, develop, and nurture culturally appropriate interactions and apply customer service guidelines.
- Assist providers with quality health care delivery, including vital sign collection, patient rooming, phlebotomy, specimen collection, dressing changes, medication administration, appointment scheduling, and documentation.
- Maintain a clean work environment and report defective equipment or safety hazards.
- Assist in disaster planning and activities.
- Provide feedback and support improvements to ensure compliance with Joint Commission and other regulatory standards.
- Ensure drug stock, supplies, and equipment availability by performing daily inventories and submitting requests.
- Perform equipment inventory, maintenance, and quality control testing (e.g., blood glucose meters).
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with other employees.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of safety factors and medical terminology.
- Strong oral and written communication skills to interact with patients and families.
- Proficiency in accurate documentation in the patient health record.
- Computer skills using a variety of software applications.
- Ability to learn the computer system and schedule patient appointments and tests accurately.
- Skill in setting up, maintaining, and interpreting data from medical equipment and monitoring devices.
- Basic first aid.
- Competence in injections, vital signs, and phlebotomy.
A certification from an accredited medical assistant program.
Minimum Certification Qualification- Certification in Basic Life Support required.
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) from any of the following organizations:
National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) from National Healthcare Association (NHA), or American Medical Certification Association (AMCA).
