SummaryUnder close supervision responsible for assisting providers in delivering quality health care to customer-owners and their families.
Level I employees perform work under close supervision, may only perform simple or routine aspects of the position, and generally require a good deal of instruction and/or training.
Responsibilities- Creates, develops, and nurtures culturally appropriate interactions. Applies customer service guidelines appropriate for the situation.
- Assists providers in the delivery of quality health care. Performs basic medical procedures before and after examination including taking vital signs, rooming the patient, performing phlebotomy, specimen collection, dressing changes, medication administration, scheduling patient appointments and procedures, documentation of care in the healthcare record, and assisting in ensuring smooth patient flow.
- Assists the provider and case manager in managing patients and may serve as a scribe or assist with orders under appropriate training.
- Maintains a clean work environment, reports safety hazards, and assists in disaster planning and activities.
- Contributes to quality of care improvements to meet Joint Commission and regulatory standards as applicable to the department.
- Manages drug stock, supplies, and equipment by daily inventories and supply requests; performs equipment inventory and maintenance; conducts daily quality control testing and documentation (e.g., blood glucose meters where applicable).
- Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with other employees.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of safety factors and medical terminology.
- Knowledge of effective oral and written communication with patients and families.
- Skill in maintaining accurate documentation in the patient health record.
- Skill in operating computers and software applications; ability to schedule appointments and tests using the computer system.
- Skill in setting up and interpreting data from medical equipment and monitoring devices.
- Skill in basic first aid, injections, vital signs, and phlebotomy.
Minimum Education Qualifcation: A certification from an accredited certified medical assistant program.
Minimum Certification
Qualification:
Certification in Basic Life Support required. CMA certification from NCCT or AAMA, or CCMA from NHA or AMCA.
