Description
Assessment of medical nutrition therapy needs based upon the patient s medical diagnosis, laboratory values, anthropometric measures, medications, age-specific requirements, and other co-morbidity factors identified by the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist or other members of the health care team. Development, implementation, and management of an individualized, interdisciplinary team plan of care designed to achieve maximum nutrition support. Counseling and education of patient/family in the application of medical nutrition therapy principles when appropriate.
Make appropriate referrals to other members of the health care team to optimize outpatient care and follow-up. Function as an advocate for nutrition care for the acutely ill hospitalized patient; a consultant to medical staff; and a nutrition consultant in the community when contracted or requested across the continuum of care.

- Required Qualifications
- Bachelor s Degree in Food and Nutrition or related field.
- Successful completion of a dietetic internship program.
- Continuing education in accordance with policies of the Commission for Dietetic Registration to maintain registered status.
- Alaska Dietitian License or Alaska Nutritionist License within 6 months of hire.
- National CDR Registered Dietitian (RD) — upon hire.
- 1 year clinical experience.
