As Southeast Orthopedic Specialists continues to grow, we are looking for Certified Medical Assistants for at our Jacksonville and St. Augustine Clinics! Please see below for the functions and requirements for this position:

Responsibilities
  • Facilitates communication between the patient and the provider during patient care:
    Collect and shares pertinent information with the provider;
    Receives and acts on directives from the provider.
  • Prepare the patient for visit with the provider, including rooming patients, obtaining and documenting vitals, reviewing intake paperwork, pulling radiology images, removing dressing, procedure setup, injection prep, and accurate data entry into EMR.
  • Complete tasks associated with Company initiatives such as PROs, Quality Payment Programs, etc.
  • Maintain exam room standards by restocking at the end of each clinic day; clean rooms and tables as needed during the day and at the end of the day.
  • Monitor biohazard and sharps containers and replace them as needed.
  • Assist the provider in preparing patient prescriptions and completing medical and patient forms (e.g., work releases, FMLA).
  • Retrieve and respond to voicemails within 24 business hours and document actions in EMR.
  • Prepare patient electronic charts for clinic visits before the date of service.
  • Verify outstanding testing results in EMR, confirm the appropriateness of the patient to the provider, and note imaging, DME, or casting needed before the visit on the date of service.
  • Scan clinical documents into EMR.
  • Print clinic schedules on the morning of the date of service.
  • Ensure patient education as indicated by the provider.
  • Manage EMR desktops of assigned providers promptly.
  • Create and promote a positive patient experience.
  • Maintain HIPAA compliant environment.
  • Maintain a clean workspace.
Qualifications
  • REQUIREMENTS:
    Must have a valid Medical Assistant Certification.
Education
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant training program or a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.
  • Medical Assistant certificate of completion from an accredited program or LPN license.
Experience
  • Medical Assistant experience is preferred.
  • Experience with C-Arm is preferred, or willingness to learn how to operate C-Arm.
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of the health care field.
  • General knowledge of patient care in a clinic.
  • Knowledge of back office skills.
  • Knowledge of patient confidentiality, state laws, HIPAA regulations, and medical records procedures.
Skills
  • Professionalism when interacting with providers, co-workers, patients, family members, and the public.
  • Ability to problem-solve.
  • Time management skills.
  • Ability to adapt to change.
Abilities
  • Ability to project a pleasant and professional image as a HOPCo employee both at work and on social media.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and complete delegated work assignments.
  • Ability to demonstrate compassion when dealing with patients and family members.
Environmental Working Conditions
  • Normal office environment.
  • Possible travel between clinics for coverage purposes.
Physical/Mental Demands
  • Some bending and stretching are required.
  • Manual dexterity using a calculator and computer keyboard.
