Summary of

Job Responsibilities

The Southcentral Foundation (SCF) Manager of The Pathway Home (TPH) is responsible for the day-to-day performance and operation of the TPH program, including guidance and coordination of the work of TPH employees towards established goals and objectives. The Manager of TPH is responsible for planning, organizing, measuring, and delivering services within the program. This role works in partnership with clinical and operational leadership to coordinate exempt level clinical staff including but not limited to physicians, registered nurses, advanced practice providers, certified teachers, chemical dependency counselors, recreation therapists and master level clinical staff.

Within this partnership the Manager of TPH operates within defined policies and procedures and judgment is guided by established precedents and policies to implement and maintain quality services for customer-owners and a healthy work environment for employees. The Manager of TPH will facilitate and support customer-owner care that is highly interactive and participatory, where customer-owners have the opportunity to build, share, and express knowledge through open dialogue around issues or problems with a focus on the customer-owner’s outcomes.

The Manager of TPH is responsible for ensuring a safe and supportive treatment environment and may provide supervision of the customer-owner to meet State of Alaska licensing regulations.

Qualifications

SCF programs are established to serve a primary population comprised of Alaska Native people who are affiliated with Cook Inlet Region, Inc. (CIRI) and Alaska Native and American Indian people within SCF’s geographical service area. Employees should have a thorough understanding of the cultures and the needs of this population. Such knowledge is critical to ensure the achievement of SCF’s vision of a Native Community that enjoys physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness, and mission of working together with the Native Community to achieve wellness through health and related services:

  • Meet one of the following:
    • Bachelor’s degree in human services, social work, or related field and four (4) years of experience working in a residential treatment facility OR working with adolescents in a behavioral health setting.
    • Master’s degree in human services, social work, or related field and one (1) year of experience working in a residential treatment facility OR working with adolescents in a behavioral health setting.
  • Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
Program Highlights

The Pathway Home is a voluntary, comprehensive, individualized mental health program for adolescents from 13 to 18 years old. Its mission is to create a loving and supportive community environment where Alaska Native children can develop into independent, service-minded, and productive leaders. The Pathway Home team assists youth in improving their mental and behavioral health, physical and spiritual wellness, and academic and/or vocational skills.

Through a combination of individual, group, and educational therapy, youth learn healthier methods of managing behavior, handling conflict and anger, progressing in recovery, and improving relationships with family members. The Pathway Home provides a safe, comfortable, and nurturing environment for adolescent youth. Emphasis is placed on building and maintaining healthy, positive, and supportive relationships, by supporting customer-owners and families working through challenges and developing new skills that provide autonomy, preserve values and culture, and provide healthy alternatives to navigate life’s challenges.
