Summary of

Job Responsibilities

The Southcentral Foundation (SCF) Genetic Counselor is responsible for working collaboratively with physicians and subspecialists, providing professional genetic counseling to customer-owners and families with genetic backgrounds which pose potential risks to their children in terms of hereditary diseases and disorders. The Genetic Counselor supports and coordinates communication between the customer-owner and multidisciplinary teams and provides support in the diagnosis and evaluation of such conditions and collaborates on a course of action and care options.

Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Human Genetics or Genetic Counseling from an American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) or American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG) accredited training program.
  • ABGC/ABMG board certified or board eligible.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. ACLS, NRP, ATLS, ALSO and PALS as required for specialty and any certification relating to the scope of practice as required.
