) to join our team in Anchorage, Alaska
.

Hope Community Resources, Inc. is a non-profit disabilities service provider based in Anchorage, Alaska. Founded in 1968, our company provides services and supports to people of all ages and abilities who experience an intellectual, developmental, or other disability, traumatic brain injury, or mental health challenge.

Responsibilities
  • Provides direct care and supervision with heightened awareness for safety and well-being.
  • Assists with and teaches daily living skills, social interaction, and communication strategies, focusing on community inclusion and fostering independence.
  • Provides opportunities for support recipients to work on goals and objectives as outlined in Plans of Care and/or other support plans.
  • Implements individualized support plans, including behavior and mental health interventions.
  • Uses de-escalation techniques and trauma-informed practices when needed.

Part time, flexible schedules are available. We are also looking for a reliable weekend-relief staff - this is a 36 hour live-in position, every other weekend starting on Friday at 6pm and ending on Monday at 6am with 8 hours of scheduled sleep time overnight.

Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED;
  • Six (6) months of experience working with people with disabilities or challenging behaviors.
  • Experience with aggressive behaviors or other intensive supports that may include continual heightened vigilance in supervision and monitoring, formalized behavior management strategies, and/or verbal and physical de-escalation techniques preferred
  • Driver's License, personal vehicle, and clean driving record
  • Comfortable providing personal care and hygiene assistance
