Doctoral & Master’s Prepared Counselors

The Role:

The Master ’s-Level Counselors will provide crisis intervention, suicide prevention, referrals, and counseling to individuals who contact the Alaska Treatment Center for emotional distress, particularly those at high risk for suicidal and/or homicidal thoughts and behaviors. The Master’s Level counselor services will be done in the clinic or via telehealth services. He/she will accurately maintain and administer follow-up appointments as needed, and collaborate with the other clinicians at ATC for case management, and the office manager for scheduling clients.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Responsible for conducting assessments, counseling, referrals, crisis intervention, and suicide prevention support in clinical or telehealth settings during scheduled hours.
• Responsible for completing patient notes within three days of the appointment
• Ability to navigate and document on the EHR (Icanotes) independently.
• Document all services performed for accurate billing for services provided in compliance with all local, state, and federal laws.
• Manage interactions to ensure an appropriate level of support is provided efficiently.

• A Master’s Degree in psychology, social work, or a related field required
• Active listening skills and efficiency with information-gathering, and problem-solving to facilitate resolution of inquiries.
• Ability to maintain a professional demeanor when handling crises and other difficult contacts
• At least 1 - 2 years experience in providing client care (preferred but not required)
• Proficient computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Licensed counselors w/o experience - starts at $35/hr
• Unlicensed counselors - $24/hr
