The Physical Therapist evaluates, diagnoses, and treats patients with physical impairments to improve mobility, reduce pain, and enhance quality of life. Working in settings such as hospitals, clinics, and rehabilitation centers, they create personalized, evidence‑based treatment plans using exercise and manual therapy to help patients recover and become independent.
Essential Work Functions- Evaluate patients’ physical conditions using standardized tests, clinical examinations, and patient history.
- Develop personalized rehabilitation programs based on assessment findings and patient goals.
- Implement treatment plans using various techniques to improve patient mobility and reduce pain.
- Operate specialized equipment and modalities safely, ensuring proper maintenance.
- Assess progress, adjust plans, and document evaluations, interventions, and outcomes.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs, body mechanics, injury prevention, and self‑management techniques.
- Maintain a safe treatment environment, adhering to infection control protocols and safety guidelines.
- Engage in quality assurance initiatives and professional development activities.
- Collaborate in discharge planning for smooth transitions.
- Perform other duties as assigned within scope of practice.
- Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in English reading, writing, and communication.
- Ability to read and comprehend written instructions; follow verbal instructions; PC skills.
- Physical abilities: Remain stationary, move around; move equipment (50–100 lbs), push, pull, bend.
- Interpersonal skills: Work effectively with diverse personnel; positive attitude.
- Technical/motor skills: Fine manipulation; assist with procedures and equipment.
- Mental requirements: Handle frequent public contact; meet deadlines under pressure; work under supervision or independently; handle irregular schedules; maintain focus on detail.
