Front Office Specialist/Medical Assistant

Location:

Anchorage, AK

Pay: $22.00 – $25.00/hour

Specialty Referral Practice
· Full-Time
· In-Office

This is not your typical medical office. Opti Staffing is recruiting on behalf of a small, highly specialized practice seen strictly by physician referral — no walk-ins, no chaos, just focused work with a close-knit team and an established patient base. Our client is looking for someone genuinely detail-oriented who can juggle a dozen things at once without dropping any of them, and who brings a real sense of humor to the front desk.

Star Wars fans and comic book aficionados especially welcome.

The Opportunity

As the Front Office Specialist/Medical Assistant, you'll be the first face patients see and a key part of daily clinic operations — blending front-office administration with hands‑on patient support. Our client is looking for someone friendly, dependable, and able to multitask smoothly in a fast-paced healthcare setting, while keeping patient information confidential and handling every interaction with professionalism.

What You Bring
  • 3+ years of recent experience in a medical office, specialty clinic, or outpatient setting
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA, patient privacy requirements, and CMS regulations
  • Hands‑on experience with patient scheduling, EHR software, medical records, and multi-line phone systems
  • Professional references who can verify your medical office experience
  • Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check — no felony convictions within the past 5 years — plus an OIG exclusion screening and drug screening
A Day in This Role
  • Patient Reception & Communication — You'll greet patients warmly and manage phones, follow-up calls, and registration.
  • Scheduling & Documentation — You'll collect intake info, maintain EHR records, schedule visits, and verify referral authorizations before booking.
  • Patient Rooming & Clinical Support — You'll escort patients to exam rooms, record vitals, and support providers and billing with day-to-day coordination.
  • Facility Upkeep — You'll keep exam rooms sanitized between patients and common areas stocked and organized.
  • Compliance — You'll uphold HIPAA, CMS, and credentialing standards at all times.
Schedule & Compensation

Full‑time, Monday–Friday, 7:45 AM – 4:45 PM

In‑office only — no remote option

$22.00 – $25.00 per hour

  • 401(k)
  • health/dental/vision insurance
  • paid time off
Physical Requirements
  • Able to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally
  • Able to assist patients in wheelchairs
  • Able to alternate between sitting, standing, walking, and stairs throughout the day
