Dementia Care Specialist
Opening available for 7am-3pm shift and 3pm-11pm shift
We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and skilled Dementia Care Specialist to join our tight-knit team. In our 10-bed assisted living home, we don't just "manage" symptoms—we celebrate retained abilities and support our residents through their journey using Teepa Snow’s Positive Approach to Care (PAC). Unlike large facilities where you might feel like a number, here you will have the time to truly connect with residents, understand their "Gems" level, and provide the personalized support they deserve.
ResponsibilitiesSupport with Dignity:
Assist residents with daily living activities using PAC techniques like Hand-under-Hand™ and Positive Physical Approach™.
Meaningful Engagement:
Lead individualized activities that focus on what residents can do, fostering a sense of purpose and joy.
Environmental Cues:
Maintain a calm, supportive environment that reduces distress and promotes independence.
Collaboration:
Work closely with a small team and families to adapt care plans as residents transition through different stages of dementia.
QualificationsThe Right Heart:
You understand that "behavior" is a form of communication and meet distress with curiosity and empathy, not frustration. PAC Knowledge:
Prior experience with Teepa Snow’s Positive Approach to Care is a major plus, but a willingness to learn is mandatory. We provide ongoing PAC training!
Experience:
Previous experience in memory care or assisted living preferred.
Reliability:
In a 10-bed home, our team is our family. We need someone dependable and proactive.
