THE ROLEThis is a semi-skilled, part-time position responsible for the room setups, tear downs, and cleaning of the Anchorage Convention Centers meeting rooms and public areas. A conversion worker is expected to be able to work without close supervision and to work irregular hours including day or night shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Sets-up meeting rooms and lobbies in accordance with the function orders; using stage, chairs, tables, dance floor, etc.
- Tears down meeting rooms and clean each room after events.
- Put unused furniture in proper storage rooms and ensures storage rooms are clean and orderly.
- Assists with garbage collection as needed.
- Cleans the loading dock daily, after the trash has been picked up.
- Empties trash receptacles, sweeps and mops-up spills on floors and carpets.
- Remove snow from sidewalks around buildings, canopy covering sidewalk as needed.
- Apply ice melt or sand when required.
- Other duties as assigned, i.e., cleaning restrooms and lobby areas.
- Knowledge of tools, supplies, and methods used in converting meeting rooms
- Ability to perform heavy and physically demanding work
- Ability to communicate orally and/or in writing
- Ability to understand and complete verbal and/or written instruction
- Ability to work independently in the absence of supervision
- Ability to work in cooperation with others
- Education and/or
Experience:
High school diploma desirable

Work hours may range from very early morning to late night. On rare occasion, must be able to work additional hours, weekends, overnight or extended stays, as business demands, with prior notice.
