Job Description

Business Services Project Manager 2 (02-6400) in Anchorage or Juneau, AK.

You will coordinate multiple, complex, enterprise-wide initiatives through business groups, IT staff, and stakeholders. This is your opportunity to help the State of Alaska improve operational delivery through coordination, process improvement, and project management. On assigned initiatives, you will identify risks and resolve issues before they arise to meet objectives and deliver on time and within budget. You will engage stakeholders and apprise executives of project status, schedule, budget, and quality, surfacing capacity, resourcing, and any other roadblocks requiring executive decisions and actions.

Through rapport and relationships, you will influence stakeholders to remove barriers and facilitate success of change efforts.

In addition to your responsibilities as a project manager, including project planning, execution, monitoring, and successful delivery; you will also participate in the following:

  • Compliance coordination:
    • Collaborate with the responsible agency and Office of Information Technology (OIT) Governance, Risk, and Compliance and operational sections to ensure compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and standards.
    • Facilitate audits, track findings, and drive corrective actions.
  • Service and Process Improvement Initiatives:
    • Lead service teams in documenting operational procedures.
    • Define and prioritize product backlog items to improve the service.
    • Participate in and guide proof of concept, pilot, and other hands‑on efforts to demonstrate value and/or expose problems in a "fail-fast", Build-Measure-Learn approach.
    • Work closely with cross‑functional teams, stakeholders, and vendors to deliver high‑quality solutions.
  • PMO Resource Library Development:
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to create standardized PMO templates.
    • Assist in documenting best practices and guidelines for project management.

OIT has offices in downtown Juneau, 5th Floor State Office Building and in downtown Anchorage, at the Bayview Building on Ship Creek Ave, and this position is suitable for a hybrid telework with commitment to in‑office collaboration where needed. Daily, you will use Office 365, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams and other tools to manage enterprise‑wide initiatives and projects. You will work closely with the Strategy and Agency Services section deputy and other members of the OIT leadership team.

Your oversight and management work will enable coordination of work streams to meet high‑profile, customer‑facing deliverables. You will collaborate with stakeholders inside and outside of OIT, including key stakeholders within other departments. Your clear, organized, and factual approach will be responsive to customer challenges and ensure those customers get the anticipated value out of the OIT services they depend on.
