Job Overview

Imaging Associates is a best in class diagnostic imaging facility managed by the largest radiologist group in Alaska – Alaska Radiology Associates. Imaging Associates has a robust IT infrastructure supporting a Level II Trauma Center – Providence Alaska Medical Center – as well as sites across the state. The PACS Administrator will report to the Director of IT and will be responsible for assisting with implementing, monitoring, and maintaining day‑to‑day operations of the various IT systems, including Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), Radiology Information System (RIS), Radiology Voice Recognition Dictation System, Vendor Neutral Archive and any other systems used in the practice.

Only on‑site work will be considered; no remote option.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Education: Associates Degree in Computer Science or related field. Preference for a Bachelor’s degree from a four‑year college or university.
  • Experience:
    • Two years of experience as a PACS administrator with medium‑to‑large scale PACS/RIS systems.
    • Experience with Intelerad PACS preferred, not required.
    • Knowledge of client/server and GUI concepts and tools, PC‑based middleware tools.
    • Knowledge of HL7, DICOM and healthcare integration standards associated with digital imaging.
    • Proficiency with disaster avoidance and recovery.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Operating Systems, and DICOM integration devices.
    • Basic understanding of networking.

    Excellent customer service skills; able to perform multiple tasks with frequent interruptions; able to work flexible shifts.
  • Attendance: Regular attendance is required.
  • English Language: Must read, write, and speak English.
Responsibilities
  • Provide maintenance of users and user profiles.
  • Monitor integrations and study‑related items between the various IT systems.
  • Assist in the day‑to‑day technical administration of PACS, RIS, Radiology Voice Recognition Dictation System, VNA, and all other IT systems used in the imaging centers.
  • Diagnose, analyze, and troubleshoot technical issues and resolve problems.
  • Provide system training as required.
  • Act as a liaison between IA, the radiologist group, customer users, and vendors.
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Market EMR Integration and VNA platforms.
  • Have full responsibility for implementation of EMR and VNA integrations.
  • Perform emergency duty before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours in case of emergencies, crises, or disasters (including evenings, weekends, or holidays).
  • Take night and weekend call on a rotating schedule.
  • Travel to our three sites located in Anchorage, Eagle River, and Palmer as required.
