Position: IT System Administrator 1 (Enterprise Identity Administrator (PCN 025148)

Overview

The Department of Administration, Division of Office of Information Technology (OIT) is recruiting an IT System Administrator 1 in Anchorage or Juneau. Pay depends on candidate location.

Responsibilities
  • Active Directory & Entra  — manage performance, troubleshoot issues, support authentication, group policy, federation, and single sign‑on integrations.
  • Incident and request management — resolve identity‑related incidents and requests in the State’s “Alaska Now” ticketing system.
  • Monitoring and basic system health checks — review logs, perform escalations, maintain service stability.
  • Advanced administration tasks under senior oversight — upgrades, platform checks, fault tolerance improvements.
  • Network component checks and testing — verify network‑related services and ensure reliability.
  • Stay up to date on technology — apply emerging cloud technologies and industry best practices to enhance identity services.
Qualifications
  • Identity Management – manage and secure user identities across enterprise systems, including provisioning, access governance, authentication workflows, and compliance standards.
  • Technical Problem Solving – troubleshoot, diagnose, analyze, and identify system malfunctions.
  • Configuration Management – plan or manage implementation, update, or integration of system components.
  • Hardware – knowledge of specifications and uses of computer equipment.
  • Infrastructure Design – understanding of architecture and typology of software, hardware, and network devices.
  • Operating Systems – knowledge of desktop, server, and mainframe operating systems.
  • Systems Integration – principles and procedures for installing, integrating, and optimizing information systems components.

Due to the nature of the work and access to APSIN, the selected individual must pass a background investigation and may be re‑fingerprinted. Full disclosure of all past criminal convictions is required.
