Job SummaryThe Parts Counter will be responsible for the sale of truck parts and accessories, researching customer requirements, controlling parts inventory, processing invoices and payments, and managing return cores and warranty parts.
Key Responsibilities- Assist all customers (retail and shop) in selecting required parts in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner.
- Manage incoming and outgoing phone traffic.
- Assist outside sales staff with technical, inventory, and pricing information.
- Identify and record lost sales opportunities to ensure inventory performance remains at a high level.
- Consistently follow up on outstanding backorders and aging will‑call items.
- Receive payment from retail customers or obtain credit authorization.
- Coordinate with delivery drivers for daily delivery and pickups.
- Pull and fill orders from stock for local delivery and outside sales staff.
- Restock incorrect or returned parts.
- Notify parts manager of out‑of‑stock parts or shop materials that need immediate attention.
- Source, shop, and order emergency non‑stock items from local vendors.
- Communicate order status of special order items with all customers and service departments.
- Pull orders for service and body shops, ensuring all parts are tagged with customer names and job numbers.
- Ensure that local special order parts are returned to the vendor if not picked up by the customer.
- Make sure all internal requests for parts are billed on the service repair order.
- Ensure that all charge sales are signed by the customer.
- Ensure that all customers receive their copy of the invoice.
- Issue credit for parts returned, ensuring that the original invoice or its number is available so that purchase and pricing can be verified.
- Keep orderly records of all repair orders, invoices, insurance estimates, and special order parts.
- Other duties may be assigned by management.
- High school diploma or GED (preferred).
- Detail oriented.
- Proficient at Microsoft Office, communication, and time management.
- Must be able to work 40+ hours per week.
- Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to operate or be trained to operate a forklift.
The physical demands described here represent those that must be met by the team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Team members must be able to lift at least 50 pounds on a regular basis and be able to stand for long periods of time. Bending, lifting, and pushing will also be required.
