We are a locally focused manufacturing & distribution team that values teamwork, craftsmanship and reliability.
Job Duties & Responsibilities- Lead, coach, and manage the purchasing team to ensure effective execution of purchasing and category strategies.
- Set priorities, expectations, and performance standards for purchasing activities.
- Provide oversight of vendor relationships and purchasing strategy to support service levels, inventory health, and financial goals.
- Review and guide inventory planning and purchasing decisions, with attention to logistics and transportation constraints impacting Alaska.
- Monitor key performance indicators and hold the team accountable for results and continuous improvement.
- Partner with cross‑functional leaders to align purchasing strategy with operational and business objectives.
- Represent the purchasing function in vendor relationships and strategic discussions.
- Exhibit an ability to receive feedback, adapt to new processes and continuously develop skills.
- Demonstrate the ability to collaborate, communicate well and effectively relay information with an emphasis on developing positive professional relationships.
- Practice punctual and reliable attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- 5+ years of purchasing or category management experience, including people leadership.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency working with Microsoft Excel and Power BI.
- Physical ability to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Must pass pre‑employment drug screen as a condition of employment.
- College degree in business, marketing, retail merchandising or an equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge and skills.
- Experience managing multiple product categories.
- Purchasing experience.
- Consolidation and transportation experience in Alaska or other remote‑market environments.
- Understanding of logistics and transportation including consolidation, freight considerations, and extended lead times.
This is a full‑time, salaried 45+ hours per week position, in person, typically Monday through Friday. Company‑paid education and training may require occasional day and/or overnight travel.
Compensation & Benefits- Annual base salary: $75,000 – $110,000. After meeting eligibility requirements, benefits include:
