The Food Service Supervisor is located at the Creekside Commons on the University of Alaska Anchorage. This is a high-volume dining facility located on a college campus. The Food Service Supervisor is a unique and exciting opportunity for an energetic and motivated manager who is constantly seeking excellence in service standards. This key leadership position is directly responsible for the successful operation of Food Service activities including retail, quality improvement, sanitation and infection control.
The Food Service Supervisor ensures client, customer service satisfaction with efficient cost-effective management, meeting and exceeding stated expectations. They will also provide strong leadership to a team whose focus is exceptional service, exceptional quality and driving customer service.
Responsibilities- Provide team leadership by ensuring cohesiveness at the unit and with the client.
- Direct daily food service operations to provide quality products and operations including menu evaluation, planning, purchasing, inventory, receiving, food preparation and storage.
- Maintain and implement sanitary and food safety conditions and train staff to adhere to auditing procedures and statutory regulations.
- Be accountable for the execution of product and service quality by maintaining the highest level of delivery.
- Actively involved in daily operations, promote and support workplace diversity initiatives.
- Execute strategic plan by implementing short-term and long-term goals that align with the scope of services, mission, and values.
- Manage by providing positive and constructive feedback to employees to reward, coach, and motivate.
- Supervise day-to-day work activities, assign and prioritize activities, and monitor operating standards.
- Establish a safe work environment for employees by performing safety audits and inspections, conducting safety-related training, and maintaining ongoing communication with employees.
- Maintain kitchen and storage facilities to meet or exceed sanitary conditions.
- Provide direction to employees and independently determine and develop approach to solutions; review work periodically to ensure objectives have been met.
- Motivate and guide others to work hard by building a sense of teamwork and commitment, including clearly communicating and reinforcing team goals, cooperation, and excellence.
- Develop and administer schedules and performance evaluations.
- The Food Service Supervisor is responsible for selection, orientation and training and development of employees, including initiating personnel actions such as hiring and termination.
- Monitor internal quality assurance and food safety audit process including HACCP record keeping.
- Supervise staff.
- Other duties pertinent to the department or unit’s success may also be assigned.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Food Handler’s Card or Serv Safe Certification contingent upon 30 days of hire.
- At least one (1) year of experience in a key leadership role overseeing employees.
- A valid Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under NMS' vehicle insurance policy.
- Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read and write English.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications:
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Culinary Associate’s degree or a degree in a related field.
