Are you passionate about public safety and data management? If so, please consider joining the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Program with the Division of Statewide Services in the Department of Public Safety! We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic individual to lead this program in the CJIS Administrator-2 role where you will play a crucial role in overseeing and enhancing critical support services that impact statewide public safety.

The CJIS Administrator-2 provides statewide leadership, vision, and strategic direction for the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Program within the Division of Statewide Services. This role is critical to maintaining the integrity, security, and efficiency of Alaska's criminal history record, fingerprint identification, and justice information systems—directly supporting law enforcement and other criminal justice agencies statewide.

By overseeing these essential systems, the CJIS Administrator-2 advances public safety, ensures compliance with state and federal laws, and enables effective data sharing, policy development, and operational excellence in alignment with the department's mission.

The working conditions you can expect:

This position is based at the Department of Public Safety (DPS) Headquarters, located at 5700 East Tudor Road in East Anchorage. The facility offers ample on-site parking and is directly served by public transportation. Scenic paved trails and views of the Chugach Mountains surround the building. Your office is co-located with the Deputy CJIS Administrator and other members of the management team.

Occasional out-of-state travel is required to attend national conferences representing Alaska.

What we are looking for:

• Personnel Development:
  Knowledge of human resource concepts, principles, and practices related to determining workload projections and current and future competency gaps to align staffing with organizational goals.
• Strategic Planning:
  Develop short- or long-term goals and the strategies to achieve them; coordinate with other organizations to accomplish goals; monitor progress and evaluate outcomes using metrics, data analysis, goal setting, and performance review to ensure compliance with functional and legal requirements.
• Project Management:
  Knowledge of the principles, methods, and tools for developing, scheduling, coordinating, and managing projects and resources, including monitoring and approving costs, milestones, and performance.
• Financial Administration:
  Develop and administer large operational budgets with multiple funding sources, allocate resources strategically, and ensure fiscal stewardship aligned with performance objectives and public accountability expectations.
• Change Management:
  Lead organizational and operational transformation initiatives; modernize policies, processes, and systems while maintaining operational continuity; utilize management principles, strategies, and techniques required for effectively planning, implementing, and evaluating change in the organization.
