Job Description

The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions is recruiting for a Facilities Manager 1 in Anchorage, Alaska.

What You Will Be Doing:

Under general direction, provide support and training to 13 State Prisons focusing on safety and federal OSHA laws and regulations to ensure compliance.

Support of Facilities Managers duties include development, direction, coordination of budgeting, planning, design, construction, renovation, and maintenance functions or activities for management of correctional facilities in the state of Alaska.

This position prepares plans, goals, and objectives for the facility and provides ongoing technical assistance to achieve those directives.

This position may be called upon to assist the facility concerning unannounced OSHA visits, conduct workplace inspections, hazard assessments, accident investigations, industrial hygiene evaluations, and safety training; developing and implementing safety policies and procedures; maintaining required records and reports; advising management on safety issues; and coordinating corrective actions to promote a safe work environment and ensure regulatory compliance.

This position is based out of the Atwood Building in beautiful downtown Anchorage with exceptional views of the Chugach Mountains. Travel to various facility locations is necessary; the Department of Corrections has facilities located in:
Anchorage, Eagle River, Wasilla, Point Mackenzie, Palmer, Sutton, Fairbanks, Ketchikan, Juneau, Seward, Kenai, Bethel, and Nome.
