JobPurpose
The Senior Manager, HSE - Alaska Operations provides strategic and operational leadership for health, safety and environmental performance across Alaska office, fabrication, construction, and project activities. The role partners with operational leaders, project teams, clients, contractors, and regulatory stakeholders to implement effective HSE programs, eliminate or control workplace hazards, and support safe, compliant delivery of work in remote and high-risk operating environments.
Reports functionally to the Assurance Director, Canada and Alaska, and operationally to the Vice President, Alaska Operations, on HSE program performance, compliance, incident management, and operational risk matters.
Reporting StructureAlaska Operations HSE Managers report directly to this position.
Location and TravelThe role is based in Anchorage and requires travel to the North Slope for at least one week each month. Relocation assistance to Alaska is not available; however, transportation between Anchorage and Prudhoe Bay is provided, along with room and meals while in Prudhoe Bay.
Essential Job Functions- Leads the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of HSE programs for Alaska Operations, including office locations, fabrication activities, construction projects, and operating facilities.
- Manages and directs HSE work directly and through supervisors or professionals leading others, including staff selection, training, discipline, remuneration input, and assignment of program work across multiple projects.
- Represents the company in meetings with clients, government agencies, contractors, and insurance representatives to address HSE performance, compliance expectations, and immediate safety issues.
- Works with self‑initiated interaction with leadership and technical functions, exercising influence over assigned duties while operating within organizational policies and objectives.
- Ensures work is aligned with company policy, client expectations, regulatory requirements, and coordinated effectively with other company departments.
- Oversees incident response and investigation processes, including timely notification to the Assurance Director, Canada and Alaska, and the Vice President, Alaska Operations. Reviews investigation quality, cause analysis, root‑cause determination, corrective actions, and reporting requirements in accordance with the Company Event Recording and Reporting Standard and North Slope‑specific incident management requirements.
- Provides HSE input and accountability for budget development, resource planning, and spend management.
- Ensures compliance with applicable company, client, safety, and regulatory requirements, including policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines relevant to the position and work being performed.
- Ensures the HSE function provides effective support to Alaska Operations, projects, proposals, and field execution teams.
- Assumes overall responsibility and authority for Alaska Operations HSE program delivery and departmental performance.
- Supports proposal development by providing HSE scope, staffing, risk, compliance, and execution input.
- Travels to the North Slope and throughout Alaska to support project operations, with a minimum expectation of one week per month on the North Slope.
- Attends required training sessions, seminars, and appropriate educational programs.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex HSE issues, develop tactical implementation plans, and support organizational goals across projects and operations.
