Pay will be determined based on location of selected individual.

Anchorage salary: $3,623.20

Fairbanks salary: $3,732.00

Juneau salary: $3,804.00

What you will be doing:

• Overseeing the regulatory ambient air monitoring section as the team applies state and federal air quality regulations and monitoring methods to measure compliance with seven criteria air pollutants (carbon monoxide, fine particulate matter, coarse particulate matter, nitrogen dioxide, ozone, sulfur dioxide, and lead) and comparing concentrations against EPA’s National Ambient Air Quality Standards.
• Hiring, assigning, directing, training, and supervising section staff while ensuring a strong understanding of quality assurance, quality control, the supporting scientific principles, and the technologies required to operate Alaska’s ambient air quality monitoring network and special projects; fostering effective decision-making, maintaining project timelines, and contributing to policy development at the internal, state, and national levels.
• Collaborating closely with the Program Manager and other section leads to develop and manage spending plans and budgets, while independently coordinating solicitations and procurements, managing service contracts, directing the sections project management activities, and supporting air quality studies.
• Coordinating the preparation of statistical reports, data analyses, and written summaries to clearly communicate monitoring results and inform the public about potential health risks.
• Reviewing proposed state and federal regulations, monitoring methodologies, and emerging technologies; providing recommendations on technical content and scientific procedures; and assessing impacts of new regulations on state and local communities.
