Job Description

Essential Functions
  • Manage fuel requirements for generation facilities by coordinating with power dispatchers, fuel suppliers, pipelines, and storage operators.
  • Manage operational programs and reporting processes for use with renewable energy resources, including hydro and wind resources.
  • Oversee fuel nomination, scheduling, and balancing fuel supply over pipelines and storage systems.
  • Manage operational terms of commercial agreements for natural gas supply, transportation, storage, and transactions.
  • Manage commercial and operational obligations requirements associated with economic dispatch, fuel supply activities and economy power transactions.
  • Develop and maintain the production cost models, fuel forecasting and annual fuel budget.
  • Develop and implement processes and procedures to reconcile natural gas, other fuel resources and economy power transactions, including Power Pool.
  • Assist in the development, technical analysis, and commercial terms of new gas supply and related contracts.
  • Monitor real time Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) information and review correlating data affecting consumer demand such as changing weather conditions, system operations and submit intraday scheduling changes.
  • Collect and analyze monthly fuel system performance data.
  • Assist with planning studies to evaluate gas supply requirements and ability of the Cook Inlet gas system to meet those requirements.
  • Develop and implement procedures for dispatchers, regarding the scheduling, and accounting of power and energy transactions.
  • Establish initiatives and manage objectives to Chugach’s overall strategic goals.
  • Prepare and present capital and operating budgets relating to division and contracts.
  • Support continuous improvement and operational efficiency by identifying areas of opportunity and sharing recommendations with management.
  • Prepare and administer employee performance reviews. Plan for staffing, training and development of department personnel.
  • Participate in emergency response and take a leading role in storm restoration, natural disasters and other emergency events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel.
