The level 1 welder must pass a 6G (Stick) welder qualification test. The candidate will complete a Flux Cored Arc Welding Process (FCAW) in the 6G position test. If the candidate fails the FCAW 6G test, he or she would still qualify for employment with the understanding that he or she must retest and pass the FCAW 6G test, no later than 90 days of employment.
The welder should also be able to fabricate and fit complex structural assemblies such as structural members, beams and components of the mast, substructure and oilfield skid assemblies.

High school diploma or equivalent.
A total commitment to working safely and participating in all HSE programs.
Minimum of 1 to 3 years welding experience on drilling rigs and associated equipment.
Prolonged standing and walking for up to 12 hours per workday on steel decking and grating, which may be wet or muddy.
Ability to sit in a riding belt while suspended from an air hoist for up to 30 minutes.
Continual bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, and crawling throughout the shift for up to 12 hours.
Ability to perform overhead work such as chipping and grinding using 5 lb grinders for up to 5–10 minutes at a time, and swinging 8 or 16 lb sledgehammers overhead for multiple repetitions.
Ability to maintain arm-hand steadiness while holding tools and performing precision work.
Functional range of motion of neck, trunk, upper and lower extremities to perform tasks safely and efficiently.
Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and uneven or unprotected structures, including climbing 25–50 steps multiple times per day and working at heights 6 feet or more above the drill floor while wearing fall protection.
Good static and dynamic balance for sitting, squatting, walking, carrying, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing.
Ability to lift and carry a variety of objects of varying size and weight throughout each shift.
Must pass all required pre-employment and site-specific drug and fitness-for-duty testing.
Must possess a valid Driver’s License (no restrictions) – Real , suitable for travel to Alaska and the North Slope.
ResponsibilitiesLays out, positions, and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications using straightedge, combination square, calipers, and measuring tape.
Tack-welds or welds components and assemblies using SMA, GTA, or FCA welding processes.
Cuts work pieces using oxy-acetylene torches.
Able to Air Carbon Arc Gouge.
Removes rough spots from work pieces using portable grinder, hand file, or scraper.
Welds components in flat, vertical, horizontal, or overhead positions.
Analyzes engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations.
Develops templates and other work aids to hold and align parts.
Determines required equipment and welding method using knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques.
Ten or more years of welding experience on drilling rigs and associated equipment.
Certifications for welding structural steel such as Grade 50 and 4130.
