Material Handler, Forklift Operator
Overview
This position is responsible for loading and unloading cylinders on vehicles, shipping and receiving of cylinders, cylinder staging and limited customer service. This includes moving cylinders to other designated destinations and ensuring the accuracy and safety of the product. Reports to the Site or Operations Manager/Supervisor and interacts with customers, sales, management and other operations personnel.
Responsibilities- Load and unload cylinders on assigned trucks or tractors or other designated areas, including checking identification, labels, valves, and styles to determine if a cylinder needs filling, should remain empty, needs painting, or has marks; follow required procedures to insure safe storage of all cylinder products.
- Ensure all loads are secure prior to deliveries by checking strapping, location of cylinders in the vehicle, correct cylinders loaded, and proper tagging; follow safety procedures to insure the safety of equipment, containers, and materials.
- Handle material of cylinders manually and with dollies, carts, and forklifts; transport vehicles (including trucks, tractors, forklifts, and cylinder carts) to different dock locations when loading or unloading; follow all safety procedures and policies.
- Perform housekeeping duties for safety and appearance purposes.
- Adhere to quality assurance policies and standards; notify supervisor of quality assurance problems; perform other projects and duties as assigned; comply with all policies and standards.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks related to loading, unloading, and moving cylinders; experience with forklifts and material handling equipment is preferred.
- Ability to transport and move cylinders across various dock locations and to follow safety procedures for equipment, containers, and materials.
- Ability to read and interpret cylinder identification, labels, and related documentation, and to determine when cylinders require filling, painting, or tagging.
- Strong attention to safety, quality assurance, and compliance with company policies.
Pay Rate: $25.00 per hour DOE.
Physical Demands:
The job is very physical, involving loading and offloading cylinders and dewars on pallets, moving cylinders, and using a cylinder cart for distances greater than 15 feet. Forklift use may be required to load, offload trucks, or move pallets. The position includes varied physical activities and postures as listed in the original description.
