JOB SUMMARY

The Fitter Apprentice supports chemical operations and tubing fitting activities throughout the Prudhoe Bay field. This position works under the direction of Chemical Operator Leads and Tubing Fitters while developing the skills and knowledge necessary to perform tubing fitting and chemical injection system maintenance independently. The Fitter Apprentice assists with chemical system maintenance, equipment inspections, troubleshooting, inventory management, and tubing fitting activities while maintaining compliance with company, client, and regulatory requirements.

ESSENTIAL

DUTIES
  • Assist with evaluating chemical delivery performance across the field.
  • Perform data entry utilizing Chemical Database applications.
  • Assist with monitoring chemical injection systems and related equipment.
  • Adjust flow rates and operate valves, pumps, and hydraulic lines under supervision to meet recommended targets.
  • Assist in troubleshooting chemical system issues through process-of-elimination and knowledge of chemical system components.
  • Monitor gauges, dials, and other indicators to ensure proper equipment operation.
  • Clean and maintain equipment, tools, vehicles, and work areas.
  • Assist with assessing chemical system conditions and identifying maintenance requirements.
  • Assist with Energy Isolation (LOTO) plan development and execution in accordance with client requirements.
  • Accurately document chemical flow rates, system maintenance activities, and equipment conditions.
  • Complete daily reporting as required.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance and repair of chemical injection systems.
  • Learn and perform Sko Flo Metering Valve maintenance, including disassembly, inspection, reassembly, and pressure testing.
  • Maintain Sko Flo documentation and parts inventory.
  • Assist with bulk chemical handling, storage, deployment, and transfer operations.
  • Work closely with Tubing Fitters to learn tubing installation, maintenance, repair, and inspection techniques.
  • Assist Tubing Fitters with fabrication, tubing runs, pressure testing, fitting installation, and system modifications.
  • Learn proper use of tubing fitting tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Assist with inventory management of tubing, fittings, valves, and related components.
  • Participate in on-the-job training programs and skills development activities.
  • Comply with Company and customer policies and procedures.
  • Support AES's zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.
  • Other duties may be assigned as business needs require.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Driving record must meet Company requirements.
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn industrial maintenance and tubing fitting skills.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools and power tools.
  • Ability to work outdoors in arctic weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment and materials as required.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and follow directions.
  • A minimum of three years related training and experience required
  • North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification required.
