Job Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Labor & Delivery position at an acute care Magnet hospital in Alaska, requiring at least 2 years of L&D experience and AWHONN Intermediate certification.

• Work in the Labor & Delivery unit of a 152-bed acute care Magnet hospital in Alaska
• Patient population is complex, with significant social history including domestic violence, serving the Alaska Native community
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Float within scope across all L&D areas including LDR and Postpartum Unit (PPU)
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:00)
• Every other weekend required (approximately 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule, Saturday and Sunday)
• No on-call required
• Self-scheduling/block scheduling available
• Charting via Cerner
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Scrubs may be any color or pattern; L&D scrubs are provided by the facility
• Parking is provided at no cost
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
• No RTO restrictions
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration

• Active AK RN license required; compact license accepted with proof of full AK license application submitted (AK BON processing takes 10–12 weeks)
• Minimum 2 years of L&D experience required
• Required certifications: AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring, BLS, and NRP
• Cultural sensitivity to the Alaska Native population is required
