Job Summary
As the Nurse Manager of Surgical Services you will be responsible for assisting the Director with the planning, administering, and evaluating the operations of the Operating Room. You will create an environment focused on providing excellent care to patients and their families.
Responsibilities- Model and sustain patient and family-centered care and direct staff as they care for patients and educate families.
- Share accountability for the standards and scope of nursing practice within the unit.
- Work with the Director on department staffing; hiring, evaluating, guiding, disciplining, and scheduling of staff.
- Act in a composed and professional manner, especially under pressure.
- Develop and communicate a shared vision for the department consistent with the hospital's vision.
- Identify strengths and weaknesses of staff performance, and work with them on training and development accordingly.
- Coordinate functions with staff, physicians and other departments of the hospital with a focus on throughput based on patients' needs.
- Current Alaska nursing license in good standing.
- American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and certification within 30 days of hire.
- CNOR required or obtained within twelve months of hire.
- (CST) Certified Surgical Technologist, or (RN) Registered Nurse.
- Two years clinical experience in the operating room required.
- Previous leadership experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
